  • Business licenses are valid for one fiscal year: October 1 – September 30.

  • Licenses must be renewed between October 1 – October 31 to avoid penalties and interest.

  • Early renewal is not permitted before October 1.

  • Visit the Alabama Department of Revenue (ALDOR) website at www.revenue.alabama.gov.
  • Click on the green My Alabama Taxes (MAT) link at the top of the page.  
  • Go to the Businesses Section.
  • Click on the β€œRegister a business/Obtain a new tax account number” link.
  • Follow the instructions and submit the application. You will receive a confirmation number.
  • It will take 3 to 5 business days for ALDOR to process your application and issue you a new Tax ID account number(s). To avoid delays, do not submit additional applications during that time.
